EC-23 Workshop
EC-23 Workshop:
The 23rd Joint Workshop on Electron Cyclotron Emission and Electron Cyclotron Resonance Heating (EC-23) will be held in Barcelona, Spain, from May 18 to 22, 2026.
This scientific meeting is directly related to the interaction of electromagnetic waves in the millimetre range and hot plasmas. The EC-23 workshop is a continuation of an international conference held every two years, with the previous edition held in Daejeon, Republic of Korea in April 2024.
The Electron Cyclotron Heating System is considered a critical technology needed for magnetic confinement fusion. The topics to be discussed would include:
- Electron Cyclotron wave propagation and absorption theory
- Experiments applying Electron Cyclotron waves for Resonance plasma Heating (ECRH) and Current Drive (ECCD)
- Experiments applying Electron Cyclotron Emission (ECE) as a plasma diagnostic
- Electron Cyclotron enabling technologies
This workshop shall be chaired by Fusion for Energy (F4E), co chaired by the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BSC) and the Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas (CIEMAT), and support provided by ITER.
