Breakout 2A: Unlocking synergies between PSD and development finance

An innovative pathway for SME financing emerges when development finance can take on a more catalytic, market-shaping role by coordinating with PSD/MSD programmes or supporting small business growth funds.
This break-out session explores the challenges and opportunities of ‘end- to-end’ financing pathways where PSD/MSD operates at the high-risk end of the spectrum, generating investment opportunities that can be taken on, first, by catalytic, blended finance and next, as they mature, by commercial finance. Development finance can support this transition and, as a result, be instrumental in strategic sector transformation processes.
The session will explore ‘what it takes’ for PSD/MSD programmes, donor agencies and DFIs to make this work.
The session will be led by Alex Kucharski, BII, Harald Bekkers from the DCED Secretariat.
