Chukwu-Emeka has an eclectic professional background starting in the mid-1980s and spanning the fields of ICT, journalism, lecturing, management consulting, African diaspora nonprofit, migration and development advisory services, and PSD consulting. Working mainly in Freetown, Sierra Leone, he combines his role of leading an FCDO-funded PSD initiative, Invest Salone, with acting as Country Director for the International Growth Centre. Chukwu-Emeka has an MA in Communications Policy Studies from City University, London and a BA (Hons) by Independent Study from the North East London Polytechnic (now University of East London), focusing on ICT and international development. In 1994 he co-founded the African Foundation for Development (AFFORD) to maximise the African diaspora’s contributions to Africa’s development. He’s served as senior advisor to the governments of Mexico and Mauritius in their capacities as chairs of the Global Forum for Migration and Development. In 2015, he worked at the Sierra Leone National Ebola Response Centre to help end the epidemic. Chukwu-Emeka has come to appreciate the complex, systemic nature of Africa’s development challenges, which demand more creative, holistic approaches to problem-solving and are likely to stretch our collective and individual imaginations in unexpected and unconventional ways. This quest is now the focus of his professional practice and development.
