Energy and Mines Australia Summit 2023
Decarbonisation is a difficult and complex transition for mining companies with a very short timeline and an urgency to determine concrete methodologies and pathways. While progress is being made, roadmaps to net-zero mining are far from clear. Miners have many questions around the implementation, performance, cost, integration, commercialization, infrastructure and interoperability of different carbon-free technologies. Additionally, miners are seeking greater clarity around carbon emissions analytics and reporting to meet ESG and investor expectations.
With a number of mines demonstrating climate leadership with ambitious carbon targets and cutting-edge initiatives, Australia has become a global leader of mining decarbonisation. Multiple gigawatts of renewable energy are planned for powering Western Australian mines and the move to electrify is gaining momentum with greenfield and brownfield sites testing battery electric haul trucks and equipment. Miners are also progressing green hydrogen, sustainable fuels as well as newer technologies and methods to accelerate the pathway to zero-carbon energy and material movement.
Now in its 7th year, the Energy and Mines Australia Summit is the annual event for miners to get the latest updates on the strategies and technologies for realizing net-zero targets and to network with mining peers and global decarbonisation experts. This year’s expanded agenda offers in-depth coverage of the key areas of interest identified by miners as pivotal at this stage of decarbonisation transition.
