World Cancer Leaders' Summit closing cocktail event hosted by Cancer Council Victoria (CCV)
Information
Cancer Council Victoria is delighted to host this year’s World Cancer Leaders’ Summit closing cocktail event- a relaxed yet meaningful networking opportunity for global leaders, policymakers, and experts. As the Summit’s finale, it not only celebrates the progress made but also reinforces our collective commitment to combating cancer.
The event will take place at Zinc, a premier venue in one of Melbourne’s most iconic locations. Situated close to the historic Flinders Street Station- renowned for its grand clock tower and role as the city’s bustling transport hub - Zinc is perched on the River Terrace level of Federation Square, a cultural landmark reflecting Melbourne’s artistic and social identity. Federation Square’s striking architecture, featuring interlocking buildings and open spaces, symbolizes unity and connection. It is home to major cultural institutions, including ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image), the Koorie Heritage Trust, which celebrates the history and culture of the First Peoples of south-eastern Australia, and the Ian Potter Centre, which houses the National Gallery of Victoria’s extensive Australian art collection. Recognized as a heritage site in 2019, Federation Square blends contemporary design with vibrant community spaces.
Overlooking the scenic Yarra River and Boathouse Row, Zinc is located at the entrance to Birrarung Marr- a name derived from the Aboriginal term ‘Birrarung’ (Yarra River) and ‘marr’ (mist that sometimes settles over the water). The venue offers a world-class event space with a contemporary design by renowned designer Fiona Lynch.
Zinc proudly partners with Youth Projects, donating surplus food to support Melbourne’s homeless community.
We are also honoured to welcome Bumpy, an award-winning Noongar singer, songwriter, and producer, whose soulful music will enrich the evening’s experience.
On the way to Zinc, you’ll enjoy a relaxing 30-minute cruise along the Yarra River, taking in Melbourne’s iconic landmarks, tranquil river gardens, and stunning natural scenery.
