Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre is an exemplar in cancer care that is backed by ground-breaking research and discovery. Located in Melbourne, Peter Mac is Australia’s only Comprehensive Cancer Centre and the country’s only public hospital solely dedicated to cancer care. Our approach is driven by the relentless pursuit of excellence and a deeply embedded culture of innovation.

We believe, as did our co-founder Sir Peter MacCallum, that “Nothing but the best is good enough in the treatment of cancer”. Since 1949, Peter Mac’s unique model has integrated clinical care with a ‘bench-to-bedside’ approach to translational cancer research, all in one location. Today, the centre provides multidisciplinary, personalised cancer care to almost 50,000 people each year.

Peter Mac has over 4,200 employees, and is home to the largest grouping of cancer researchers in Australia, with more than 700 laboratory, clinical and health service researchers.

We are experts in first-in-human clinical trials, immunotherapies including CAR T-cell therapies, and cutting edge multi-omic approaches, while stretching the known boundaries of nuclear medicine, and concentrating on the potential of personalised medicine for all.
