Project Pitch
Empowering Women in Coffee: Sustainable Trade through EUDR-Compliant Financing is a blended revolving and venture financing initiative designed to strengthen women-led coffee exporters in Ethiopia. The project provides low-interest loans and equity investments to support EUDR compliance, traceable supply chains, infrastructure upgrades, and direct market access to premium EU markets.
The financing model combines revolving capital for continuous lending with targeted equity investments in processors and startups. All returns are reinvested to expand access to finance, improve digital traceability, and strengthen sustainable coffee value chain infrastructure.
Building on Welthungerhilfe’s long-standing experience in coffee-producing regions such as Jimma, the project leverages partnerships with local financial institutions, technology providers, ITC, the European Union, and the Association of Women in Coffee. Robust monitoring systems, KPIs, and digital dashboards ensure transparency, accountability, and measurable impact—empowering women exporters while strengthening Ethiopia’s coffee ecosystem.
