Project Pitch
BunaChain is a Traceability-as-a-Service (TaaS) solution designed to address compliance challenges in Ethiopia’s coffee sector, particularly in response to the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). Without farm-level geolocation and proof of deforestation-free production, exporters risk losing access to key European markets.
BunaChain transforms compliance into a competitive advantage by enabling exporters to meet regulatory requirements while enhancing product value. The platform operates on a B2B partnership-driven model, generating revenue through verification fees per compliant batch, subscription-based compliance tools, and partnerships with global SaaS providers.
Operationally, the system digitizes coffee sourcing through mobile-enabled field agents who map farms using GPS and register smallholder farmers. Real-time data collection at washing stations is integrated into a secure ledger, allowing exporters to generate verified compliance certificates.
This approach ensures market access, improves traceability, and positions Ethiopian coffee as a premium, compliant product in international markets.
