Project Pitch

The Integrated Export Abattoir project aims to establish a modern meat processing facility in Ethiopia producing high-quality beef, mutton, and goat meat for both domestic and export markets. The facility will include advanced slaughtering, deboning, chilling, packaging, and cold storage systems, fully compliant with international food safety, Halal, and animal welfare standards.

The project integrates sustainability through rendering, wastewater treatment, and biogas recovery systems, ensuring efficient resource utilization and reduced environmental impact. Ethiopia’s large livestock population provides a strong supply base, while the current underdevelopment of the sector creates a significant opportunity for value addition and export growth.

By improving traceability, quality, and processing capacity, the project will enhance competitiveness in international markets. It will also generate employment, increase foreign exchange earnings, and support inclusive sourcing through pastoralist and cooperative linkages.

Aligned with Ethiopia’s Livestock Master Plan and agro-industrialization strategy, the project represents a scalable, high-impact investment in the livestock value chain.
