The Australian Energy Storage Knowledge Bank (AESKB): Battery and Microgrid mobile testing facility
Products, services, technologies

Information
AESKB offers a world-class mobile facility to test and trial energy storage systems and microgrid operation under lab and grid-connected field conditions. In particular, the AESKB mobile testing platform allows you to test a variety of services such as peak load reduction, electricity network stabilisation and power interruptions avoidance without manual intervention.
The facility is equipped with:
270 kW/270 kWh LG Chem JH3 battery system expandable to 360 kW/360 kWh); 270 kVA ABB PCS100 4 quadrant inverter; SEL grid connection relays; Modular distributed control system enabling connection of multiple generation sources and controllable loads (PaDECS™ supplied by Power Technology Engineered Solutions); National Instruments DAQ system sampling up to 500 kHz; Inert gas fire suppression system; Lightning protection system; and building rated for Class C (232 km/h) wind conditions.
Other capabilities of the facility are: Grid forming for resilient operation during islanding; Peak shaving and voltage support in islanded and grid-connected modes; Seamless synchronisation to the grid and islanded operation; Upper grid support in grid-tied mode; PV curtailment and ramp rate control.
