Institute for Mineral and Energy Resources – Modern Energy Systems
Academic
Information
The University of Adelaide is a world-class research and teaching institution specialising in the low-carbon transition for mining and mineral processing, geoscience, mining and exploration. Research is coordinated through the Institute for Mineral and Energy Resources (IMER) to work with industry and meet global mining and energy challenges with multidisciplinary (not just traditional geoscience and geomechanical) solutions.
Why are we at this Summit?
We have two topics of interest at the Energy and Mines Summit:
1. Mine Electrification. We have work packages available to assist miners and solution providers to design the best systems for the switch to the electrified mine.
2. Heavy Industry Low-carbon Transition. We have launched a major global initiative to establish a Cooperative Research Centre in the decarbonisation of the iron/steel, alumina/aluminium and cement/lime sectors.
