Information

This panel session was inspired by the Salinity Project that was initiated in Spring 2020 at the Glacier FarmMedia Discovery Farm, located west of Langham, Saskatchewan. The Salinity Project seeks to demonstrate the use of forage crops as a long-term management strategy for salt-affected soils. Over the course of the project, forage yield, economic considerations, and the ability of forage crops to impact salt-affected soils over time will be assessed. This panel session brings together project partners Nutrien Ag Solutions, Proven Seed, Ducks Unlimited Canada and stakeholders including the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture and a Weyburn area farmer to share their perspectives on the project. These panelists will discuss agronomic tips for forage establishment and economic considerations as well as highlighting recent research projects and programs available to Saskatchewan producers.
