Delegate in attendance: Derren Lawford, Creative Director Woodcut Media, part of Anthology Studios, was named one of the fastest growing TV production companies in the UK by Broadcast in 2016. Building on that momentum, 2017 saw Woodcut Media make its debut in the Televisual Production 100 and as a Real Screen 100 Production Company. In addition to being one of the leaders in true crime in the UK, producing Murder at My Door with Kym Marsh, Killer in my Family and hit crime franchise World’s Most Evil Killers, Woodcut Media’s rapidly growing catalogue includes specialist factual series (Combat Ships, Secret History of World War II and Tony Robinson’s V.E Day: Minute by Minute) premium documentaries (Fiennes: Return To The Nile, Cut From A Different Cloth and Mandela, My Dad and Me both co-produced and featuring Idris Elba) and factual entertainment shows (Around the World in 80 Tricks, How Hacks Work and Paranormal Captured). Woodcut Media’s shows have also proven popular internationally with the likes of Reelz and Smithsonian in the US, SBS in Australia, RTL and ProSieben in Germany, Histoire, RMC Decouverte and Canal + in France and Netlfix globally to name but a few. The company’s growth has been driven by investment from the Anthology Group, run by former Agatha Christie Productions CEO, Hilary Strong. Specializing in non-scripted programming, Woodcut Media is led by Kate Beal, CEO/Founder, alongside Co-Founder, Matt Blyth, Creative Director, Derren Lawford, and Head of Production, Jenni Day. In September 2020, Woodcut International, the distribution division of Woodcut Media was launched. Woodcut International spearheaded by Koulla Anastasi focuses on the global sales of a programme catalogue of approximately 100 hours of selected Woodcut Media series such as The Beverley Allitt Tapes (Sky Crime UK) and library titles that include The Ivy, Defenders of the Sky, Football: A Brief History by Alfie Allen, and Murders That Shocked the Nation.
