Pioneering melanoma early detection and treatment
Information
Part one: Professor Victoria Mar
Reconceiving early detection of melanoma: Harnessing 3D imaging technology for an AI driven approach
The Australian Centre of Excellence for Melanoma Imaging and Diagnosis is a large multisite collaboration, integrating cutting edge 3D skin imaging infrastructure into clinical research centres across Australia to capture an unbiased representation of the whole skin surface of up to 15,000 individuals with different risk profiles over time, document changes and identify skin cancers. AI developed during the initial cohort will be used to develop automated assessments and provide evidence for a technology driven approach to a national targeted screening program.
Part two: Dr Louise Jackett
Revolutionising the diagnosis of cancer: the skin cancer story in Australia.
Peter MacCallum Anatomical Pathologist Dr Louise Jackett will provide insights into ground-breaking advancements in the diagnosis of melanoma and other skin cancers. By highlighting the ways in which molecular testing is woven into the diagnosis of complex skin cancers, attendees will discover how quality pathology provides a roadmap for staging, prognosis and management in all cancers.
