Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel™ (SAF) is a today solution to reduce the carbon emissions of the aviation industry. Neste MY SAF is a clean substitute for fossil jet fuel. It is produced from 100% renewable and sustainable raw materials such as used cooking oils, animal and fish waste and various vegetable oils. In its neat form and over the life cycle, SAF reduces lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% compared to fossil jet fuel use (calculated with established life cycle assessment LCA methodologies, among which EU RED and CORSIA). SAF is a pure hydrocarbon fuel with a similar chemical composition to fossil jet fuel, which allows the fuel to be used as a drop-in replacement. Absolutely no modification or investment is needed to switch to SAF; it is fully compatible with existing jet engines and current fuel supply chain and infrastructure. Prior to use, Neste MY SAF is blended with fossil jet fuel and certified to meet ASTM jet fuel specifications. The aviation industry is committed to reducing its carbon emissions. The environmental impact of commercial air travel and air freight is significant and expected to grow rapidly in the future. While many solutions for reducing emissions, such as hydrogen or electricity, are still in early stages of development, Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel provides a solution that is available today.
