L'Unique Sciaccarello- domaine pierre usseglio

Piedmontese peasant Francis Usseglio migrated to Châteauneuf-du-Pape in 1931 and found vineyard work. In 1948, he signed an agreement to sharecrop 8 hectares and pressed his first wine in 1949. The estate now extends to 48 hectares, divided between Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Lirac, Côtes-du-Rhône and a few hectares of Vin de France. This rare, violet-scented variety hails from SW Corsica and Chianti. Young vines, traditional but cool-ish vinification.
