Unicycle Productions298We meet your future audience where they are.
Flying giants over city streets. Circus that reinvents what can happen on a stage. Parkour that turns architecture into theatre. Bodies suspended in water. Performance that moves through—and with—its audience.
Unicycle Productions represents a hand-picked roster of international artists reshaping contemporary circus, devised theatre and performance in public space. The work is global in perspective, but hyper-focused on the local: the place, its people and the audiences we want to reach next.
Our current focus includes Plasticiens Volants (France), creators of monumental aerial inflatables and large-scale public spectacles; Machine de Cirque (Canada), one of Québec’s leading contemporary circus companies; Upswing (UK), bringing together circus, theatre and storytelling; Gandini Juggling (UK), reinventing juggling through choreography, mathematics and contemporary performance; MULJIL by Elephants Laugh (South Korea), visually arresting devised theatre exploring human vulnerability through bodies suspended in water; and Justice in Motion (UK), with whom we are developing a U.S. version of CODE, their parkour work created for public space.
We also work with Sxip Shirey (U.S.), developing the new music-driven circus spectacle JANK!; Galmae / Juhyung Lee (South Korea/France) with the participatory public-space work C’est pas là, c’est par là; Baro d’evel (France/Catalonia) with Qui Som?; Kamchàtka (Spain); Iacopo Fulgi / Tony Clifton Circus (Italy/U.S.) with Mission Roosevelt; Ferran Orobitg (Spain) with Opia; Carin Jean White, Itsaso Iribarren Muñoz & Germán de la Riva (U.S./Spain) with The Art of Walking; and international collaborative projects including Turtle Island, created by G. Peter Jemison (Seneca Nation, Heron Clan) and Plasticiens Volants, with choreography by William Crouse Sr. and Skywoman Iroquois Dance Theater.
But bringing ambitious international work to a community takes more than finding the right artist. We bring the experience in economics, production, international relations, fundraising and sponsorship required to make these projects happen. Hire us to produce the program and connect your community with your institution’s mission.
Founded by producer Sonia Kozlova Clark, Unicycle Productions works with presenters on programming, routing, international logistics, funding, producing, partnerships, and the adaptation and development of projects specifically for North American communities and public spaces.
We believe public space is one of the most forward-thinking and exciting places in the performing arts, and that contemporary circus is a universal language capable of reaching audiences far beyond the traditional performing arts constituency.
Our work ranges from intimate contemporary circus to performances that transform streets, parks and entire communities. The perspective is global; the encounter is local.
Unicycle motto: To keep a balance, look ahead and manage with your core.
