Information

A multidisciplinary interactive project that invites people to explore, discuss, and practice individual and collective healing in pursuit of reparations, The Pla[y/n] for Reparation$ is centered on topics articulated in the California’s Reparations Report, which are used to ground the performance in areas of shared interest between attendees. Through surveys, voting, and navigating decision trees with their bodies the participants will decide what topic(s) will be centered and whether the approach is PlaYful or PlaNful. The Playful framework utilizes imaginative play, games, creative collaboration, and embodied experiences while the Planful framework employs organizing methods like mapping, planning, and practical interventions. Key audiences include: people who are curious about or already in a practice of repair or healing; people who enjoy experimental, immersive, interactive, and/or socially engaged performance; QTBIPOC community members and others at multiple historically oppressed intersections of identity. I’m building upon my existing audiences across communities in collaboration with community partners through coordinated social media campaigns and by offering distinct in person engagements: Public redistribution workshops, open rehearsals, classes, and performances.
