Juried Showcase | Olas Perdidas

Olas Perdidas’s show presents a historical overview of the handmade Son Jarocho instruments, along with traditional songs performed in their original form. By incorporating band members from different regions of the world, the performance will slowly demonstrate how Italian spaghetti western film composers used the baritone guitar and vibrato to create new sounds and feelings, while featuring Puerto Rican percussion and pedal steel guitar, showcasing a wide variety of instruments that do not normally share the stage. Bilingual lyrics demonstrate how cultures work together to preserve traditions, and how inclusivity and openness create an exciting, unique, and new form.
