AZIENDA AGRICOLA CONTE LOREDAN GASPARINI
Information
The Loredan Gasparini winery was founded in the 1950's by Count Piero Loredan, a direct descendant of Leonardo Loredan, Doge of the Republic of Venice. After having visited the prestigious Bordeaux area in France he returned to his Villa Spineda in Venegazzu', a small town in the Volpago Del Montello municipality where he noticed similar soil and climate conditions so he decided to plant the Bordeaux blend varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbech. Loredan Gasparini's wine production started with a blend of these 4 varieties (one of the first Cabernet-Merlot blends in Italy) that was called "Della Casa". Ten years later a reserve of this wine was created with a single vineyard called the "100 plants" planted back in 1946 that is still being produced and is known worldwide as a simbol of the international oenology toghether with the Della Casa, the Capo Di Stato.
In the 1970's the company passed under the direction of the current owners, the Palla family, who decided to plant white grape varieties as well (Glera, Chardonnay, Incrocio Manzoni) as they believed in the great potential of the Montello area. It is one of these varieties that is nowdays known as the grape that produces Prosecco and that in this area is produced under one of the top two appellations when talking about it, the DOCG ASOLO.
