DREI DONA' - TENUTA LA PALAZZA
Information
Tenuta La Palazza is nestled in the ancient Romagnan hills between the towns of Forlì and Predappio. The farmhouse was built around a watch tower that Caterina Sforza erected in 1481 to defend her lands in this strategic position on the gentle slopes of Massa di Vecchiazzano.
Since the beginning of the 20th century, the property has belonged to the Drei Donà counts and has always been dedicated to producing Sangiovese grapes. In 1979 Count Claudio Drei Donà, after acquiring a law degree and working in the insurance industry, quit his previous job and dedicated himself solely to the property. Altogether with his son Enrico he gave Tenuta La Palazza a radical transformation.
All the 23 hectars are run under organic certificate agriculture and biodynamic approach. Most of them are planted with Sangiovese grapes : hence are born the classic Predappio Doc “Notturno” and the Riserva “Vigna del Pruno”, altogether with the white cuvèe “Il Tornese”- the first Chardonnay & Rielsing blend in Romagna- and “Magnificat” - the first Romagna’s single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 100%.
The wines that we produce are the result of a hard work in the vineyards combined with a delicate approach in the cellar so to translate at its best the full soul of our terroir through the essence of our thought.
Just a note to explain the names of our wines: they come from the names of the horses that we also breed in our farm.
We are a member of FIVI - Italian Federation of Indipendent Vintners - from his foundation, and the only Emilia Romagna member of the Italian Grand Cru Committee.
