Force Sensing Resistor Box

Information

FSR Sample Box What happens between approach and touch? At our Innovation and Technology Center (ITZ), we took exactly this moment as our starting point and made it tangible. The sensor combines two sensing principles in a single element. Its capacitive section detects an approaching hand before any contact is made. Only then does the resistive FSR (force sensing resistor) section register the actual actuation and the applied force. For applications where both matter — proximity detection and precise force measurement — this is the decisive advantage. The sensor is implemented in printed electronics. This technology applies the circuit directly onto the substrate: thin, flexible, and resource-efficient, with no additional stack height and no rigid PCB. In the sample box shown here, this interaction is made visible by LEDs: the first indicator stage signals proximity, the second signals actual touch. The sample box therefore makes visible what normally goes unnoticed. Typical fields of application for the FSR are medical technology, robotics, wearables, and the automotive industry.
