CellSpot

CellSpot is an EL/PL Tool for Photovoltaic R&D and Manufacturing. The system allows the user to image defects and non-uniformities in solar cells and minimodules without room light artifacts. Non-contact PL imaging can even be applied to partially processed cells, while comparing EL to PL images allows the user to differentiate between series-resistance and bulk/surface quality effects. BrightSpot integrates hardware components (specialized camera, EL/PL power supply, PL Lamps, and optional filter wheel) with its IMPEL software for device control as well as image capture and processing. Recipes make it easy to replicate camera and power supply parameters as well as image contrast enhancement and cropping. RAW image mode together with an optional sinking power supply enables intensity and bias-dependent PL for spatial mapping of diode ideality factor, series resistance, implied open-circuit voltage, and power conversion efficiency.
