Information

As the Internet of Things (IoT) continues to expand, the need for reliable, maintenance-free, and sustainable power sources has become a major technological challenge. Organic photovoltaics (OPVs) have emerged as a promising solution for harvesting ambient indoor light, enabling the deployment of autonomous electronic devices without the need for battery replacement.

In this presentation, we will describe the successful industrialization of Dracula Technologies' printed OPV technology, from material and process development to pilot production and full-scale industrial manufacturing. Our fully operational manufacturing line relies on scalable inkjet printing processes, enabling high-throughput production of customized organic photovoltaic cells and modules while maintaining the flexibility required for diverse IoT applications.

Inkjet printing offers unique advantages in terms of digital manufacturing, rapid design iteration, and product customization. It enables the fabrication of application-specific geometries, variable form factors, and seamless integration into connected devices where conventional photovoltaic technologies cannot be implemented.

The presentation will highlight the key technological milestones achieved during the scale-up phase, including process transfer, manufacturing robustness, quality control, and industrial feedback. We will also present the performance of our OPV modules under low-light conditions, demonstrating their suitability for powering next-generation indoor IoT devices and smart sensor networks.

Finally, we will discuss how scalable printed OPV manufacturing is accelerating the commercialization of energy-harvesting solutions and paving the way toward widespread deployment of self-powered electronics.
