Regulation
Information
LatAm is the land of opportunities and is one of the fastest-growing markets for online gaming. In 2020 alone, the market is expected to increase 10.3% compared to last year, which equates to 6 billion dollars. And this is what SiGMA wants to achieve; targeting new continents, new opportunities and bridging the distance between these continents as we watch the gaming industry becoming a global industry.
This year has been challenging and we acknowledge you are all excited to travel and network, so: in 2021 SiGMA will not disappoint you! We will be in Malta in February for SiGMA EUROPE; in Manila in May for SiGMA ASIA; in Sao Paulo in September for SiGMA AMERICAS and close on the heels of 2021, in Cape Town in March 2022 for SiGMA AFRICA!
Across the Americas, Regulation varies region by region and our aim is to take a close look at each specific market, to help you identify which region holds the most opportunity for you.
- First up is Columbia, the first country in Latin America to introduce legislation exclusively for online gambling in 2016!
- Next we have Brazil, particularly special for us, as our next Summit will be held in Sao Paulo in September 2021. Brazil is the largest country in LatAm with 112 million people and a massive interest in Football and eSports.
- Having legalised online gambling in 2003, and further updated it in March 2020, Panama is turning out to be a region of great interest - with favourable tax rates and a high internet penetration, the Panamanian market is definitely worth looking at.
- Argentina is a fascinating region. Under the current system, Argentina's 23 provinces and the capital Buenos Aires reserve the right to regulate forms of gambling on a provincial basis. What does this mean and what can we expect?
- In 2018, Mexico's gaming market value was 10 billion dollars, and with online betting climbing annually with new operators looking to get in on the action, we take a closer look at how it all works in this region.
- And last but not least we have Peru. As South America's second largest gambling nation, this region is certainly not to be overlooked!
