Dubai CommerCityC20Dubai CommerCity is the first dedicated e-commerce free zone in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. It is an investment of AED 3.2 billion spread over an area of approximately 2.1 million square feet.. The project will accelerate the growth of the e-commerce market which is expected to reach USD 20 billion in 2020 in the GCC countries. It will provide an environment that stimulates creativity and progressive development with the aim of attracting more direct foreign investments to Dubai. This will support the objectives set out in the Dubai Plan 2021 which aims to create a unique and sustainable economy based on innovation. The free zone will be divided into three clusters designed in a modern and innovative way, a Business Cluster that includes 12 contemporary office buildings and landscapes; a Logistics Cluster which consists of 105 logistic units equipped with the latest warehouse management technologies to meet the needs of logistics services providers and customers; and a Social Cluster with multi-purpose halls, a range of luxury restaurants and cafés, and vibrant facilities that meet the expectations of e-commerce companies wishing to establish regional headquarters in Dubai. Dubai CommerCity will have its own integrated e-commerce ecosystem comprised of software as a service (SaaS), call centres, web developers and third party logistics providers. It will primarily be targeting the global and regional manufacturers, distributors and retailers who are aiming to set up direct e-commerce operations out of Dubai CommerCity to serve the wider Middle East and Africa region. The zone will also host smaller companies such as manufacturers, distributors or e-retailers which have an expected hyper growth in the region. The free zone will have exceptional competitive advantages and will be offering a unique value proposition to support its target customers in helping them grow their business. These includes short lead times to delivery given its proximity to Dubai International Airport, which is key for regional shipments. Other benefits will include special e-commerce licenses and smart cost structure. Dubai CommerCity will create an infrastructure and ecosystem to enable success of e-commerce operations of customers thereby easing and growing the zone’s FDI’s.
