Information

This symposium will focus on the development and implementation of integrated non-targeted analysis (NTA) workflows using high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS), spanning applications from environmental pollution monitoring to exposomics research. As exposomics emerges as a key discipline requiring comprehensive chemical characterization across a wide range of environmental and biological matrices, the need for standardized NTA workflows becomes increasingly critical to capture the full spectrum of chemical exposures and their potential biological effects.
The session will highlight analytical workflows that incorporate optimized sample preparation strategies for both environmental and human samples. Presentations will address improved extraction protocols, clean-up procedures, and chromatographic separation techniques designed to maximize chemical coverage while maintaining analytical robustness across diverse matrix types.
Core workflow components include harmonized LC-HRMS and GC-HRMS method development tailored to both environmental and biological samples, implementation of standardized quality control protocols, and integration of effective data acquisition strategies. The symposium will also feature examples of high-throughput analytical platforms, sample processing systems, and streamlined data preprocessing pipelines that support efficient and scalable analysis of large environmental and biological sample cohorts. Advanced topics will include automated suspect screening, identification of environmental transformation products, biological metabolite profiling pipelines, and quantitative NTA approaches applicable to diverse sample types.
This session aims to foster discussions among researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers to bridge the gap between methodological advancements, environmental policy, and water management practices. By promoting knowledge exchange and collaboration, we seek to contribute to improved environmental and human health.
