Information
In May of 2007, the EPA released Title 40 in the Code of Federal Regulations. Subpart Ja of this regulation requires refineries that are constructed after June 24, 2008 must limit sulfur emissions and all refineries had to comply by November 2025. In order to meet the regulations of low sulfur limits, many GC-MS system designers had to develop new systems as older systems were not capable of meeting these low detection limits. It has been a decade since that regulation caused a technology jump in a short period of time. This session will focus on some of the advancements that have occurred in GC-MS analysis including sample prep, continuous monitoring systems, miniaturization, and alternative carrier gases.
