Discover Paramela (Adesmia boronioides) from Argentinan Patagonia
Information
Thirty years ago, a French technological mission identified possible new raw materials in Argentine Patagonia for use in the flavor and fragrance industry. For 25 years, different essences have been distilled in the city of Esquel (Chubut Province, Argentina) that have applications in fine and niche perfumery. The essential oil of Paramela (Adesmia boronioides) was incorporated in 2005 in Brazil and is currently used in dozens of formulations, one of which won an award in 2024. Its use in perfumery has been the subject of recent analysis in specialized publications. The essential oil of Palo Piche (Fabiana imbricata) is used in Spain and one of its creations was awarded internationally.
Finally, the essential oils of Senecio (Senecio neaei) and Botón de Oro (Grindelia chiloensis) are part of several formulations made in Argentina and Italy. The sustained growth of new perfume ingredients from Patagonia over a quarter of a century represents an innovation in itself.
