Information

EMSA premieres an innovative strategy to protect skin from the harmful effects of high-energy visible (HEV) light through fragrant ingredients. A family of perfumistic compounds have been shown to absorb HEV light effectively reducing damage to S. epidermidis cultures used as model organisms. The efficacy study involved irradiation of bacterial suspensions to 415 nm LED light and dark controls in the presence/absence of the actives, followed by CFU quantification. At 0,15%, the active ingredients reduced microbiological damage by over 60% vs dark controls. Compared to a benchmark, EMSA's approach offers HEV light protection at lower concentrations, offering high-cost efficiency. Additionally, its fragrance profile -alone or in combination with fragrant compositions- may add sensorial benefits for cosmetic formulations making it an attractive innovation for dermocosmetic uses.
