Here are some of the reasons we’re unique… - Our Neurological and MusculoSkeletal division has a wide variety of exciting specialties, each with their own unique challenges and rewards. Our specialties include Stroke, Neurosurgery, Elective Orthopaedics, Trauma, Neurology, Rheumatology, Spines, Neuropsychiatry and Neuropathology. - We are the Neurosurgical tertiary centre for the Severn region, providing all aspects of the Neurosurgical practice, including Cranial and Spinal Trauma, Neuro-Oncology, Cerebro-Vascular Surgery and Epilepsy Surgery. We are host Neuro and Orthopaedic Spinal services. - We are the largest specialist elective orthopaedic centre in the Southwest and the regional referral centre for complex and spinal surgery. Our Avon Orthopaedic Centre at Southmead Hospital is a centre of excellence in the South West. - We are pioneering in our approach to Stroke and Neurology nursing; since 2017, the trust has led a specialised acute stroke centre, treating patients from across the West of England and our trust performed the second largest number of Thrombectomy procedures in the country in 2018.
