A first-person virtual reality experience, it takes the audience through four scenes from the daily life of a child from the Nanterre shantytown at 97 Street des Prés in the 1960s. He is accompanied by audio testimonials from two former residents of the shantytown.
This project is part of a “living memory” approach, a concept we develop in our creations, which is the framework in which the transmission of memory is established through an exchange between the bearer of the memory and the person receiving it. Historical veracity is not what is sought in this exchange, but the perception of events by witnesses. Experience is the central subject of this exchange, and each person can contribute his or her own feelings about the memory.
The goal of this installation is to provide an insight into childhood in the shantytowns, and to encourage discussion on current issues that echo this history: the problems of access to housing and racism.
