Synopsis
Swallowed is an animation film and an invitation to meet K., a young Nigerian who has set off on the road to Europe. In a skilful story that is somewhere between a fable and a dream, K. takes us along with him on his tragic journey. Before the shipwreck, he extends his hand to invite us to dance with him, to dance to life, to dance to the future, to dance not to forget all those who drowned.
Swallowed is the Hotspot - chapter 2, an immersive VR (virtual reality) animated documentary, an author project directed and produced by Patricia Bergeron, with the funding of Canada and Quebec Arts Councils.Hotspot is a skillful mix of participatory theatre and virtual reality. Inspired by real testimonials by migrants and mediators met in Sicily in a research project in 2017-2018, Hotspot avoids simplifying the situation.Hotspot | Chapter One - was distributed in festivals and locations based experience centers. The Chapter Two will pursue on the same paths while also adding a distribution via the channel for author projects in the Oculus Store.
At a time when this human tragedy is rendered mundane, with the trafficking of undesirables, the criminalization of solidarity and the steady rise of hatred, the Hotspot project attests to its necessity.
