At Personal Pay, we are seeking a Senior SQL Server DBA to join our Database Engineering team—a strategic area responsible for managing and leveraging data to support business growth. The role focuses on the management, evolution, and optimization of SQL Server databases on the AWS Cloud, providing cross-functional support to various "tribes."
The position requires experience in administering SQL Server Enterprise on Amazon RDS and RDS Custom, ensuring the availability, security, performance, and scalability of critical environments. Key challenges include managing high availability, backups, and disaster recovery; handling AWS migrations; optimizing performance; and automating tasks using cloud tools and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
We are looking for professionals with:
5+ years of experience with SQL Server Enterprise in production environments.
At least 2 years of experience working with SQL Server on AWS.
Advanced proficiency in T-SQL.
Knowledge of Amazon RDS, CloudWatch, Performance Insights, IAM, VPC, and KMS.
Experience with high availability, migrations, incident resolution, and automation.
An autonomous, adaptable, and collaborative mindset with a strong focus on problem-solving.
Knowledge of Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS architecture, and relevant certifications will be considered a plus.
