Lead Software Engineer

We are storytellers, creators, builders, and engineers—working across Disney’s media portfolio to reach millions of users worldwide. This team owns status aggregation across the media supply chain, combining data from processing pipelines. It also manages QC state tracking, auditing, and the search platform for content delivery. The Lead Software Engineer will: lead engineers building applications that support efficient content delivery; design robust software using engineering and ML expertise; collaborate across product and engineering to define impactful technical solutions; serve as a technical leader and mentor, promoting best practices and guiding architecture; provide career development support and daily leadership; prioritize high-value initiatives and mitigate technical risks; monitor key engineering KPIs as systems scale; and participate in on-call support as needed. What we need from you: 5+ years in software engineering; proficiency in backend development (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript); degree in CS, Engineering, or equivalent experience; experience with Agile and Git; strong problem-solving and communication skills; fluent in English; comfortable in fast-paced environments. Preferred: experience with Scala, AWS, Kafka/SQS, media integration, accessibility, CI/CD (Git, Jenkins, Docker), async programming, and modern web standards.
