Sing Me a Story
Information
Research shows the link between singing and acquisition of early literacy skills is strong, and that singing benefits children cognitively, linguistically, emotionally, physically, and socially. Sing Me A Story is an in-person and online professional development workshop for children’s librarians and early childhood educators who wish to strengthen, enliven, and widen their learning spaces through song. Founded and facilitated by award-winning singer/songwriter and teaching artist, Emilia Dahlin, Sing Me A Story delves into the science of how singing (a free, accessible, and effective tool), supports the whole child. Participants explore: experiential skill-building, the voice (technically and emotionally), embodied play, considerations for working with diverse groups, pairings of books and songs, and walk away with new ideas they can put to use immediately. Singing together activates our brains, bodies, and hearts, and makes us healthier and happier! Invigorate your programming, create rhythm, and foster a sense of belonging with the Sing Me A Story workshop.
