Spatialized Algorithms: Combining Audiovisual Livecoding and Sound Diffusion
Information
Blending the practice of sound diffusion from his background as an electroacoustic composer with his post-digital audiovisual livecoding persona, Thai composer Sippapas Thienwiwat dissects two of his recent livecoding performances created under the “SKYKYS” moniker: “sky@kys: ls -a” and “dadadadadatadada”, in “spatialized algorithms…”.
While these practices belong to distinct realms within electronic music, Sippapas' latest explorations in sonic art push the boundaries of the livecoder's role as a composer-performer in multichannel environments. In this new territory, a vast array of possibilities unfolds—encompassing the sonic palette of livecoding, dance music, audiovisual relationship, electronic musicianship, and the livecoder as a composer-performer, all within the context of multichannel performance. The talk also offers insights into electronic musicianship, diffusion techniques, livecoding practices, and the Bangkok-based collective, Cornea Cochlear Club. A live performance of “sky@kys: ls -a” (2025) is included as part of the presentation.
