Project Pitch

Private Sector Development (PSD) - The Private Sector Development (PSD) Liberia project is an initiative funded by the European Union and implemented by Expertise France in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO). Its primary objective is to strengthen the competitiveness, inclusivity, and environmental sustainability of key value chains in Liberia, particularly in cassava, fisheries, and timber sectors. By targeting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the project seeks to create decent employment opportunities and stimulate inclusive economic growth, with a particular focus on empowering women, youth, and persons with disabilities. The project operates through three main components: improving the business environment by supporting regulatory reforms and fostering public-private dialogue; enhancing agricultural value chains to increase productivity, sustainability, and market access; and strengthening institutional capacities of relevant ministries and public institutions to improve coordination and governance in private sector development. By facilitating better access to finance, technical assistance, and market opportunities, PSD Liberia aims to foster an enabling ecosystem for entrepreneurship and innovation. The initiative aligns with multiple Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including promoting gender equality (SDG 5), decent work and economic growth (SDG 8), industry and infrastructure development (SDG 9), reducing inequalities (SDG 10), sustainable consumption and production (SDG 12), and climate action (SDG 13). Ultimately, the project seeks to drive sustainable and inclusive economic transformation across Liberia.
