Constructing a "weatherproof" investment portfolio
Information
Markets are perhaps normalising after years and years of the dampened response from quantitative easing and further worldwide government financial interventions during COVID. This means that once again the markets are having to respond to rising inflation, the inevitable rise in interests’ rates alongside the impact of globalization and the storms that brings.
Our panelists will be reflecting on portfolio construction to stabilise overall investment performance under a multitude of market conditions. This will include the reality or otherwise of building in protections from:
• the impacts of wars be they trade, political or between countries;
• the impacts of the financial risk from environmental, social and governance factors
• the variations across regions in exchange rates, inflation, interest rates and taxes
We will also be asking the panel whether they believe in black swans or do they only appear when we act like ostriches and bury our heads in the sand?
