Information

Over the past year, HPC has continued to evolve alongside AI, with ongoing demand for national platforms that bring together powerful compute, large-scale data, and skilled teams to tackle complex research challenges. This convergence is reshaping not only how we support science, but also how we design infrastructure and deliver services.

This presentation provides a national update on HPC in Australia, highlighting key developments from the past 12 months and priorities for the year ahead. A major focus has been on next-generation integrated HPC-AI systems, designed to support a wide range of workloads, from traditional modelling to large-scale machine learning, alongside scalable, secure data services. Continued investment in people, particularly in research software and data expertise, is critical to realise the impact and potential of these capabilities.

We will also discuss recent funding announcements and opportunities through the National Digital Research Infrastructure (NDRI) program, which is shaping the next phase of Australia’s digital research ecosystem. These efforts emphasise more integrated platforms, equitable access, and strong alignment with national research priorities.
