The design of supercomputer architecture today is dominated by a single workload: AI training. Is that good for high-performance computing (HPC)? This talk considers the relative merits and limitations of "AI machines" for high-performance computing (HPC), with a focus on the importance (or lack thereof) of memory and network communication infrastructure.
