Information

Quantum computing is at a stage where strategic institutions, particularly HPC centers and national research infrastructures, should be investing not just in the technology itself, but in building access and user readiness. To truly democratize quantum computing, we must ensure it evolves alongside its end users, moving beyond academia and into real-world environments where hands-on experimentation and co-design with applications can take place. The worst-case scenario is a powerful new technology arriving with no one prepared to use it.

Aligned with this vision, Qilimanjaro, a full-stack quantum computing company based in Barcelona, develops fully integrated, application-driven quantum platforms, with a strong focus on analog quantum computers built on superconducting fluxonium qubits. We have deployed Spain’s first operational quantum computer under the Quantum Spain initiative and, together with Do IT Now, are delivering EuroQCS-Spain, an analog quantum system integrated with Marenostrum 5 at BSC. These efforts form the hybrid Marenostrum-Ona platform, providing both digital and analog quantum capabilities within a leading European supercomputing center. This talk will highlight these projects and outline how institutions can take practical steps to prepare users, drive adoption, and shape the future of quantum computing from the ground up.
