The UK's large-scale compute community is somewhat disconnected, has a tendency to be siloed and could do a better job of integrating with efforts going on in the wider world. Indeed, these issues are not unique to the UK and indeed better national and international sharing and collaboration across HPC would avoid duplication of effort and be beneficial for all. It is also important to remember that large scale compute includes people, software and algorithms, and infrastructure all of which have different requirements and concerns.
This network, started in 1st April 2025 and running for three years, is a central hub that facilitates knowledge exchange across Digital Research Infrastructure (DRI). We provide resources to connect both traditional and emerging DRI communities to facilitate collaboration, address issues around diversity and inclusion, help address shared challenges across the community, raise global awareness of UK DRI and provide resources to help connect communities with a wider range of stakeholders including UK government and industry.
