Information

Australia’s leadership class HPC centres, the Pawsey Centre in Australia’s west, and National Computational Infrastructure (NCI) in the east, support Australia’s national effort towards exascale HPC capability and are key assets in a National Digital Research Infrastructure (NDRI) strategy to be launched by the Australian Government in 2024. Pawsey’s CEO will present a regional update including the commissioning of Setonix, an exascale-class HPE Cray EX supercomputer and one of the world’s most energy efficient HPC systems. Pawsey’s applications supporting a sustainable, energy-efficient path to exascale computing will be highlighted. In addition, Pawsey’s role as national HPC/quantum computing lab, and host for the compute and data requirements for the exascale global SKAO radio astronomy observatory will be presented. The SKAO project has commenced construction in Australia and South Africa of its telescope arrays including installation at Pawsey of its prototype Tier 0 HPC and data infrastructure.
