E4 Computer Engineering

E4 Computer Engineering designs and implements solutions with very high technological content for Cluster HPC, Cloud, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure for the Academic and Enterprise markets. We have been collaborating with the main centers for years research at national and international level (Cineca, CERN, ECMWF, LEONARDO) and we are involved in high level projects national and European HPC and AI (EuroHPC JU EPI, EUPEX, Horizon Europe, KDT).

In its first 20+ years E4 has achieved important milestones in innovation:

• first application in Italy of Infiniband technology for the high-performance interconnection of x86-64 nodes in a HPC clusters [2005]
• first HPC hybrid cluster CPU-GPU based on NVIDIA, with Mellanox InfiniBand connectivity (E4 | EPFL / Electra) [2009]
• first HPC cluster made up of nodes equipped with ARM processors and NVIDIA GPUs, interconnected via network Infiniband [2012]
• first HPC cluster with CPU-configured nodes OpenPOWER and NVIDIA GPUs, liquid cooled and interconnected with Infiniband [2016]
• first implementation of interactive computing services (ICE) based on Jupyter Notebook technology within high-performance computing infrastructures technical-scientific [2020]
• Monte Cimone, first architecture-based HPC cluster RISC-V [2022]

Through sister company E4 Analytics, E4 works to integrate Data Science in organizations undertaking the Digital transformation of their business to improve products/processes and optimize resources. We operate at the intersection of business and technology, supporting the customer in the adoption of AI solutions: with E4 Analytics, the data business become a resource to produce value.
