Developing a new Australian GNSS Receiver Using PolarfireSoC FPGAs

UNSW Sydney in partnership with Embedded GNSS Pty Ltd, Seaskip Pty Ltd and General Dynamics were successful in gaining funding from the Australian Space Agency in 2020 to enhance and modernise the flight proven Kea GPS receiver. This presentation describes the work we have undertaken on this program, including the creation of new correlators and addition of GPS L5 and Galileo E1 capability. The difficulties in developing a new GNSS receiver during a global pandemic are also discussed.
