Enabling smallholder farmers to reduce waste and improve profitability

About Tafadzwa Ronald Chikwereti's project:

Agro is an online marketplace for unbanked smallholder farmers to access farm financing, premium markets and smart IOT driven farming techniques.

According to the United Nations 50% of Africa's food is wasted, enough food to feed the continent. This is mainly due to inefficient supply chains and wastage of agricultural inputs. My solution will address these challenges by allowing farmers to sell produce directly to consumers, buy inputs directly from manufacturers and access professional advice from consulting agronomists.

The reason Tafadzwa Ronald Chikwereti is passionate about his project:

I share common experience with farmers as most of my childhood and adolescence were spent on a farm. My mother is a smallholder farmer and I have in-depth understanding of the problems which these farmers face.

Tafadzwa Ronald Chikwereti's mentor: Shawn Melville from Trinidad and Tobago
