European Disability Forum

Information

Made by the European Disability Forum, the National Assembly of Persons with Disabilities of Ukraine, and The League of the Strong, in partnership with the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO) and Christian Blind Mission (CBM), The Sky Above photo exhibition presents powerful real-life stories of persons with disabilities living through war in Ukraine.

Through a series of eight storyboards combining photography and personal testimonies, the exhibition documents the impact of the full-scale war on people with disabilities and showcases how they navigate destruction, displacement, and recovery—often with limited support. Each panel focuses on one individual and highlights urgent humanitarian and accessibility needs, as well as community-based solutions that offer hope and dignity.

The exhibition is designed to be highly accessible and inclusive:

  • Each plinth contains a large-format photograph and written story, positioned at a readable height for wheelchair users and children.
  • Text uses high-contrast colors and large fonts tested for legibility by people with low vision.
  • An audio version of the content is available in Ukrainian and English via QR code, with professional audio descriptions of the images and exhibition design.
