Information
Every day, hundreds of children and families from the Northern Triangle of Central America – El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras – flee pervasive violence and poverty. Many embark on a perilous journey north, seeking safety and opportunities in the United States. Almost one in three migrants entering Mexico are children and teenagers.
The EU (ECHO)-funded graphic novel ANA tells the story of one such migrant: a young girl escaping Honduras with her family to save their lives. Based on real-life testimonies, ANA sheds light on the humanitarian crisis affecting thousands of displaced children. It reflects the dangers they face—gang violence, exploitation, and abuse—but also their resilience and hope for a better future.
This exhibition presents powerful visuals from ANA, bringing attention to the urgent need for protection and support for children on the move. The comic was made possible through EU humanitarian aid funding and the contributions of renowned writer Guillermo Arriaga (Amores Perros, 21 Grams) and internationally acclaimed comic artist Humberto Ramos (Spiderman).
The exhibition is part of the EU-funded “Humanitarian Response for Vulnerable Migrants and People Seeking Refuge on the Northern and Southern Border of Mexico,” a joint initiative by Save the Children and HIAS Mexico (no longer part of the project), providing legal aid, psychosocial support, and safe spaces for migrant children.
