La Chaîne de L'Espoir
Information
Founded in 1994, La Chaîne de l’Espoir is an international NGO operating in nearly 30 countries, with a focus on improving access to healthcare for vulnerable populations, especially children and women. Its interventions are integrated into local health systems and developed in partnership with local actors to ensure long-term impact and capacity building.
La Chaîne de l’Espoir has been active in Lebanon since 2005, in partnership with local organizations and public hospitals, providing lifesaving and life-changing healthcare services for vulnerable children. For almost ten years now, La Chaîne de l’Espoir worked on providing qualitative care and support to children affected by congenital orthopaedic conditions and in need of surgical care.
Since May 2024, La Chaîne de l’Espoir’s project co-funded by the European Union, aims to significantly enhance access to specialized paediatric healthcare in Lebanon, addressing life-threatening neonatal and child pathologies among vulnerable populations, in an increasingly challenging context due to the conflict escalation from September to November 2024.
In partnership with local actors and public hospitals, the intervention emphasizes not only on treatment access but also on capacity building activities for the community and health actors to improve awareness, detection methods, and referral processes for child healthcare conditions, ensuring a seamless continuum of care.
By increasing community knowledge and capacities to identify and refer life-threatening neonatal and children's pathologies, improving access to comprehensive quality medical care, and enhancing the psychological wellbeing of children undergoing treatment, their caregivers, and healthcare staff, the project promotes early detection, effective referrals, and quality care. This comprehensive approach significantly aims to improve health outcomes and save lives, ultimately enhancing the overall quality of life for vulnerable neonates and children.
